Why should we get facial cleansings?

Facial cleansing is our favorite service, and we perform it with great enthusiasm and care.
From time to time, new clients come in asking for mesotherapy, radiofrequency treatments, or any other impressive procedures they've heard about because they want to see quick, dramatic results.
However, after examining them with a magnifying lamp, in most cases we see dull, dirty skin. We then explain that to achieve the results they want, their skin must first be deeply cleansed. What good is mesotherapy if the pores are clogged with sebum? How will the active ingredients penetrate if they are blocked by impurities?

What I mean is, it’s important for our skin to be kept clean primarily to be healthy, radiant, and fresh—and of course, so that with the treatments we choose afterwards, we can enhance it even more and maintain the youthful look that we all desire.

Which facial treatment should I choose before my vacation?

The choice in this case depends on the condition of our skin. It might need hydration, it could look dull and require a boost, it may be irritated and in need of desensitization, or there could be many other scenarios.

For me, however, the number one choice is a deep cleansing treatment, because all skin types need cleansing — especially before the demanding summer season — and because it can meet almost all of our needs!

How Do I Choose the Right Products for My Skin?

Choosing the right products is not an easy task. Ideally, there should be close collaboration with the aesthetician you trust, and together you should decide each time what you need, what your skin needs, what suits it and what doesn’t. There are countless companies offering endless options, which on the one hand makes it difficult to decide what we want, but on the other hand gives us the opportunity to try and choose from a huge range of cosmetics. The key word here is “to try.”

I encourage our clients to try products before purchasing them. It is important to feel the product on our skin and first understand whether we like it in terms of sensation, texture, and fragrance. This is the first step. What it actually offers us will be seen over time, with daily use of the product.

It is also important to know what we want and to keep our expectations realistic. Miracles do not happen. However, I assure you that if you are consistent with your daily skincare routine, your skin will reward you in the long run. In a sense, we train our skin—we give it what it needs, and it gives back to us.

Are Expensive Products the Solution?

No, for me expensive products are not a panacea. Of course, I wouldn’t buy cosmetics from the supermarket either. Here too, we need to find a balance between our needs, quality, and price.

As an aesthetician and institute owner, I support professional products, which are comparable to—and often better than—those available on the mass market. However, they do not have the advertising and promotion they deserve. This, of course, keeps their prices at reasonable levels and makes them accessible to everyone. Once again, the important thing is that your aesthetician knows your skin and is the right person to recommend what you truly need. Sales assistants, no matter how well trained they may be, certainly do not know your skin in depth—they haven’t worked on it or cared for it; in short, they don’t really know it.

But even if, for any reason, you choose widely available products, keep in mind the importance of getting samples. Always try before you buy.

Why Is It Worth Trying Microneedling?

Microneedling is a non-injectable form of mesotherapy, even though needles are used. Imagine a pen with 9 up to 42 needles at its tip. The more needles, the larger the pressure surface, and therefore the smaller the trauma.

What we aim to do with this pen is to create micro-injuries to the skin. Why? By injuring the skin, we activate fibroblasts, which are responsible for the production of collagen and elastin. Our goal is to injure the skin in order to force it to self-heal, producing collagen and elastin. At the same time, hyaluronic acid, collagen, vitamin C, and many other active ingredients are infused, always depending on the skin’s needs. Personally, I believe that the effectiveness of the treatment is due more to the micro-injury and less to the products used.

As a result, skin regeneration takes place, which is exactly what we aim for. I consider it a very smart and very simple technique used in aesthetics. Attention: the hyaluronic acid mentioned above should not be confused with the hyaluronic acid injections performed by dermatologists.

Of course, depending on age and skin condition, collagen and elastin production may be higher or lower. However, there is no chance that someone will not see results. In fact, the more time passes after the session, the better the skin becomes, since regeneration naturally takes time.

How Many Microneedling Sessions Are Needed?

There is no “must.” For example, a woman who is about to get married and wants to do something impressive for her skin before the wedding can have one session one or two days before and look radiant on her wedding day.

However, when we talk about anti-aging and long-lasting results, consistency is required. Ideally, one session every one to one and a half months. Of course, not everyone can follow this schedule for many reasons: time, money, motivation. At this point, each of us sets personal goals, desires, and financial limits and creates a personalized program—but with consistency. Even if this means four mesotherapy sessions per year, the schedule must be followed to achieve the desired results. Keep in mind that, in a way, we train our skin, and it later gives back what we initially offer it.

At Le Centre de Beauté, we believe that consistency is the key to all treatments—and, of course, to our daily beauty routine as well! We invite you to try microneedling at our institute at 60 Mitropoleos Street, Thessaloniki. With our experience and attention to detail, we promise you the best possible results!
